Along with the “Gift of Hope Campaign” here are a few multi-media samples of what our community has produced this year to help educate and prevent suicide.

Gift of Hope Campaign

This is a prevention campaign that helps to de-stigmatize Suicide and help community members who are having thoughts of suicide. We spread our message through local media, articles and giving out information at public gatherings.  We visit youth groups and students in school. We have effective ways to talk about suicide.  This is an on going campaign all year.

We put more effort in during the month of December, as this can be a hard time for many.  Feelings of loss and hopelessness can be really hard to handle at this time of year.  The Gift of Hope sends out the message that there is hope, and as human beings we all have a responsibility to be there for our fellow man and we all have it in us to offer this gift. 

We have developed a small giveaway as well; it is a candle that symbolises hope, attached are resource numbers for quick reference.  This gift is given to everyone with the message, “Even if you or someone you know doesn’t need this right now, you never know and it’s good to have around.”
